Abstract:
A continuous blood-pressure monitoring apparatus (8) including a cuff (10), a first determining device (88) for determining a blood pressure based on a signal occurring the cuff, a detecting device (36) which detects a pressure pulse wave produced by an artery, a second determining device (90) for determining a relationship between blood pressure and magnitude of pressure pulse wave, a monitoring device (92) for iteratively determining, according to the relationship, a monitor blood-pressure value based on a magnitude of each pulse of the pressure pulse wave, an information obtaining device (94) for iteratively obtaining a piece of information related to a velocity at which a pulse wave propagates through the artery, based on a time of occurrence of a prescribed periodic point of a pulse of the cuff pulse wave and a time of occurrence of a prescribed periodic point of a corresponding pulse of the pressure pulse wave, a first change-value determining device (104) for periodically determining, at a judgment period, a change value of pieces of information obtained by the information obtaining device, a second change-value determining device (106) for periodically determining, at the judgment period, a change value of the monitor blood-pressure values determined by the monitoring device, and a relationship checking device (108) for comparing the change value of the pieces of information and the change value of the monitor blood-pressure values with each other and thereby judging whether the relationship is appropriate.
