To provide a mobility management method and a handover control method of a network for mobile communication which distributes the load of processing accompanying handover of a layer 2 (data link layer), introduces a flexible switching mechanism without the use of a stationary label table, and moreover participates handover for a wireless section also positively from the network side to deal with high-speed movement of a mobile terminal.
With a network (layer 2 network) for mobile communication connected to an access point, handover processing between the mobile terminal moving at high speed and the network and mobility management following it are performed dispersively with each access switch and core switch by using an exchange of a control frame. A filtering database is constituted appropriately for switching, and movement prediction of the mobile terminal is performed by a simple method by performing an appropriate information exchange between access switches. The result of this movement prediction is conveyed to the mobile terminal through the wireless section from the network side, and handover processing is performed smoothly.
