Abstract:

To provide an imaging optical system satisfying the improvement of performance and miniaturization simultaneously, and to provide an imaging apparatus using the optical system.

In the imaging optical system, a brightness diaphragm S, a 1st positive meniscus lens L1 turning its convex surface toward an image side, a 2nd negative lens L2 and a 3rd positive lens L3 are arranged in this order from an object side. In this case, a following conditional expression is satisfied, (1) 0.1< f1/f <0.55 (wherein, f1is the focal distance of the 1st positive lens L1 and (f) is the focal distance of a total system).
