Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a discharge lamp lighting device of common use type for different loads wherein variations of optical output ratios among the discharge lamps over the whole range of light-controlling can be made smaller by only an addition of a simple control circuit even in case any of plural discharge lamps with different rated electric powers is mounted. SOLUTION: According to a light-controlling signal d inputted from a dimmer 3, a direct voltage VDC output by a direct-current power source 4 is controlled by a direct-current power source control circuit 4 so as to perform the light- controlling, and in case a discharge lamp La1 having the first electric power rating is mounted via the control circuit 2, switching frequencies of switching elements Q3, Q4 are raised by only a constant frequency on the whole range of the light-controlling so that a light-controlling property of the discharge lamp La1 is made to be closer to a light-controlling property of a discharge lamp La2 having the second electric power rating, and properties of the respective optical output ratios of the discharge lamps having the different power ratings are made to be nearly constant extending over the whole range of the light-controlling.
