To provide polyester-based artificial hair excellent in setting properties, touch, transparency, and processing stability, while maintaining heat resistance and fiber characteristics, including tensile strength and elongation, of ordinary polyester fibers, and having extremely high flame retardancy.
This artificial hair is formed by melt-spinning a composition which contains a bromine-containing flame retardant and an antimony compound having an average particle diameter of 1.5-15 μm in a polyester. Thus, the flame-retardant polyester-based artificial hair which is excellent in the setting properties, the touch, the transparency, and the processing stability, while maintaining the heat resistance and the fiber characteristics, including the tensile strength and elongation, of the ordinary polyester fibers is obtained. Further, a fiber for the artificial hair which is excellent in combing properties, scarcely causes deterioration in the flame retardancy, and is excellent in the flame retardancy is obtained, by attaching a polyorganosiloxane-based fiber processing agent or a flame-retardant organosilicon compound-containing fiber processing agent thereto.
