This phenolic resin composition for the formation of resin coated sand contains a phenolic resin and an inorganic acid alkali metal salt that serves as a disintegrating agent. The content of the inorganic acid alkali metal salt is from 0.1 part by mass to 10 parts by mass (inclusive) relative to 100 parts by weight of the phenolic resin.
