Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for recovering bismuth with reduced impurities.SOLUTION: In a method for separating a base metal element where an organic solvent containing bismuth, a base metal element other than bismuth and bis(2-ethylhexyl)phosphate is contacted with acid to back-extract the base metal element, the process of the back-extraction practices: a first back-extraction process P1 where, by contact with a nitric acid solution, copper or lead is separated from an organic phase as a water phase with a nitric acid concentration of 0.5 to 1.0 mol/L; and a second back-extraction process P2 where, by the contact of the organic phase obtained in the first back-extraction process P1 with a strong acid solution, the bismuth is selectively separated as a water phase or precipitates in a water phase are practiced in this order. By these processes, the bismuth reduced in impurities can be selectively recovered.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
