PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a travel measuring device and method for measuring the travel of an object to be measured, capable of finely measuring the cable travel of a power transmission cable in a millimeter or centimeter unit on a street without opening a manhole and further automatically measuring it, for example, for each hour.SOLUTION: A travel measuring device for measuring the travel of an object P to be measured comprises: a displacement sensor 1 placed in the vicinity of the long-sized object to be measured P; a sensor wire 2 withdrawn from the displacement sensor 1; and wire fixing means (4 and 5) for fixing an end portion of the sensor wire 2 to the object to be measured P.
