Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain stable fixing performance by controlling to obtain the optimal nip width without reducing productivity.SOLUTION: A fixing device 11 comprises: a fixing roller 15 that has an elastic layer 15b formed on an outer periphery; a heating roller 14 that is heated by a heater 24; a fixing belt 13 that is stretched by at least the fixing roller 15 and heating roller 14; and a pressure roller 17 that is in pressure contact with the fixing roller 15 with the fixing belt 13 therebetween to form a nip part. The fixing device includes: a gap width detection sensor 21 that detects the width of a gap between the fixing roller 15 and heating roller 14; a pressure roller moving mechanism 18 that moves the pressure roller 17 in a direction to contact/separate from the fixing roller 15; and a control part 22 that controls the amount of movement of the pressure roller 17 moved by the pressure roller moving mechanism 18 toward the fixing roller 15 on the basis of the gap width detected by the gap width detection sensor 21.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2
