Date Mar. 6, 1997The present invention pertains to the field of pain management in medicine. Methods for treating reflex sympathetic dystrophy (including causalgia) are provided, in which a haloalkylamine a adrenergic blocking agent and a local anesthetic are administered to the affected limb by intravenous regional block. Formulations which can be used in these methods are also provided. In a preferred embodiment, phenoxybenzamine and either lidocaine or procaine are administered to the affected limb using a Bier block procedure.
