Abstract:
1359631 Welding by pressure AMADA CO Ltd 21 June 1971 [22 July 1970] 29024/71 Heading B3R Apparatus for welding cemented carbide pieces 4 to the teeth of a saw 16, e.g. a circular or band saw, comprises means for intermittently feeding the saw to bring successive teeth to the welding position, feed means 26 for feeding carbide pieces individually to recesses Ca, Cb in the teeth, an upper electrode adapted to be raised and lowered and having a recess 28a shaped to fit a carbide piece and to press it into the recess Cb, and a vice 24 adapted to clamp the blade at the welding station and serving also as the lower electrode. As shown, the recesses Ca, Cb may be provided with small projections to improve the welding process. The carbide pieces may be of other shapes than the cylindrical pieces shown, e.g. square, rectangular or triangular.
