PURPOSE: To prevent the fatigue of a photoreceptor and to prevent the increase in potential after destaticization even in the stage of continuous recording, by driving a destaticizer at a rate of once every n-times of processes except for destaticization.
CONSTITUTION: A destaticizer 17 is so constituted as to be driven just once in n-times of recording operations in the stage of exposing picture image light on a uniformly electrostatically charged photoreceptor 8 to form electrostatic latent images, developing the same to form toner images and transferring the toner images on transfer paper 2 then subjecting the photoreceptor 8 to destaticizing and cleaning. Then, the fatigue of the photoreceptor 8 is prevented when light is used for the destaticization an the increase in the potential of the photoreceptor is prevented even after continuous recording when a destaticizing charger is used for the same.
