Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain new acid anilide derivatives useful for combating fungi, particularly Botrytis, having improved fungicidal action compared with nicotinic acid anilides such as 2-chloronicotinic-2'-ethyl anilide.
CONSTITUTION: 2-Alkylaniline (for example; 2-n-propyl-aniline, etc.) is allowed to react with an activated ortho-substd. nicotinic deriv. (for example; 2- chloronicotinic chloride, etc.) at 0°C for 2 hours with stirring to obtain an objective acid anilide deriv. of the formula (wherein A is pyridin-3-yl substd. at 2-position with halogen, methyl, trifluoromethyl, methoxy, methylthio, methylsulfinyl or methylsulfonyl, etc.; R is (halogen-substd.) 2-12C alkyl, (halogen- substd.) 3-12C alkenyl or (halogen-substd.) phenyl, etc.]. The compd. has improved fungicidal action compared with 2-chloronicotic-2'-ethyl anilide.
