Abstract:

To provide a microorganism showing cellulose decomposition activity under a strongly acidic condition, and a method for producing a sugar and an organic acid by using the same.

This acidic cellulase-producing bacterium is provided by belonging to the genus Trichoderma, showing the cellulose decomposition activity under an acidic condition, and showing an endocellulase activity and a β-glucosidase activity at least within pH 2.0 to 2.5 range. By using the bacteria or their culturing supernatant, the method for producing the sugar by decomposing the cellulose is provided. Further, the method for producing an organic acid by co-culturing the bacteria with an organic acid-producing bacteria such as lactobacillus, etc., is provided.
