Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide an improved knee bolster means capable of safely buffering and restraining the lower body part of an occupant by enlarging a spare gap in an occupant leg part space in an automobile, and preventing the danger of the sliding of the occupant into the space during clashing.
CONSTITUTION: This means includes a knee bolster panel 28, a reaction canister 22, an air bag 26, and restraint chains 46, 48 and 50 connected to the panel and the canister in the air bag, and constructed as an active knee bolster operated by the built-in air bag.
