Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detailed pixel structure of a top emission type display device using light emitting elements.
SOLUTION: A substrate 26 is provided with a plurality of pixels arranged in a matrix form thereon, and each pixel is comprised of a light emitting element 25 formed with a transparent pixel electrode 19 and a metallic pixel electrode 18 on both surfaces of a light emitting layer, and driving circuits (15, 16, 17) for controlling the driving currents of the light emitting element, having a structure wherein the driving circuits are formed on the substrate side and the light emitting element is formed on the driving circuits holding an intermediate layer made of an insulating material in between, and the transparent pixel electrode is placed on the back side of the substrate to form a layer, and the metallic pixel electrode of the light emitting element is connected with the driving circuits via the conductive part arranged through the intermediate layer. The transistors forming the driving circuits are placed on the underside of the metallic pixel electrode, and thereby the light made to exit from the light emitting element can be shielded from reaching the transistors, and picture quality is prevented from deteriorating by suppressing leakage current of an off-state transistor due to the light.
