Title:
ACYLATION OF ALKYL AROMATIC HYDROCARBON
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2504629
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To provide a method for acylating an alkyl arom. compd. by Friedel- Crafts reaction using a carboxylic deriv. in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts catalyst and an org. aluminum compd.
CONSTITUTION: An alkyl arom. compd. (e.g. t-amylbenzole) is reacted in the presence of a Friedel-Crafts catalyst (e.g. aluminum chloride) and an org. aluminum compd. (e.g. aluminoxane) by using a carboxylic deriv. (e.g. phthalic anhydride) as an acylating agent in a solvent (e.g. dichlorobenzole) at -20 to 100°C. Thereby, the alkyl arom. compd. is acylated. Side reactions can be effectively suppressed.
