Abstract:

PURPOSE: To effectively and satisfactorily equalizer a received digital signal in all reception conditions to cope with an inter-symbol interference at the time of reception of the digital signal in a cellular radio system or the like.
CONSTITUTION: In this equalization method, each repeater stage compares each sample in a group of received samples, whose values were not determined in the preceding repeater stage, with at least one reliability threshold (34); and if the sample exceeds any threshold, the sample is made correspond to an estimated symbol whose value follows the threshold which it exceeds. Thus, the value of the sample is determined (36). The inter-symbol interference induced by the estimated symbol is eliminated in another symbol belonging to the group of received samples (37). A repeater step where the inter-symbol interference is eliminated in this manner is included.
