Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make it possible to faithfully reproduce a sound image to be reproduced even when the state of a reproducing sound field is changed.
SOLUTION: An acoustic input signal is adjusted to required amplitude and phase characteristics by sound image controlling FIR filters 105, 106 and the adjusted signals are outputted to a reproducing sound field by speakers 131, 132. An adaptive processor 113 updates the coefficients of the filters 105, 106 based upon a difference between outputs from FIR filters 111, 112 of which coefficients are object characteristics and an output from a DHM 133 arranged in the vicinity of a listener. A coefficient substituting device 116 substitutes the object characteristics corresponding to a control signal stored in a coefficierat storing device 117 for the coefficients of the filters 111, 112. Even when the reproducing sound field is changed, the change is sensed by the DHM 133 and the coefficients of the filters 105, 106 are changed in accordance with the sensed change, so that the sound image to be reproduced can be faithfully reproduced.
