Abstract:

To apply adaptive waveform equalization processing to a multivalue- modulated output of a transmission channel.

An adaptive waveform equalization processing unit for a multivalue-modulated output of a transmission channel is provided with a filter section 15 with a variable tap coefficient that conducts adaptive waveform equalization processing, a first order partial differentiation section 16 of an elevation function that applies first order partial differentiation to a tap coefficient of the filter section 15, and a step value multiplier section 16 that multiplies a step value to determine a step width with an output from the section 16. The step value multiplier section 17 updates the tap coefficient of the filter section 15 so that the output of the section 16 takes a null value.
