Abstract:

To provide a lubricant composition having decreased phosphorus and sulfur contents and reduced frictional coefficient.

There are provided a lubricated surface, a lubricant composition for lubricating a surface, and a method for reducing a frictional coefficient of a lubricant. The lubricated surface is obtained by the lubricant composition containing a base oil of lubricating viscosity and a definite amount of at least one titanium compound soluble in hydrocarbons and effective to reduce the frictional coefficient of the lubricant composition to an extent greater than the friction reducing effect of a lubricant composition devoid of the hydrocarbon-soluble titanium compound.
