Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relieve the processing load for communication in a network using a different protocol by conducting address solution through the acquisition of a MAC address of a transmission destination based on an IP address of the transmission destination.
SOLUTION: A transmission terminal 1J generates an address solution request packet storing an IP address of a reception terminal 1T and sends the packet to an address solution server 1L connected to a global network 1D. The server 1L reads out an IP address of the terminal 1i stored in a packet and retrieves an address management table by using the IP address as a key and generates an address solution reply packet storing an ATM address of the terminal 1i and returns the packet to the terminal 1J. The terminal 1J reads out the ATM address of the terminal 1i from the returned packet to generate the ATM cells and sends the cells to an inter-working unit 1G. The unit 1G checks the ATM cells and generates a MAC frame by adding a MAC address of the terminal 1I to the packet to generate a MAC frame and sends the frame to the terminal 1I.
