Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a water treating adsorbent having high adsorption capacity by heat-treating lumpy or powdery coal at a specified temp. in the air.
CONSTITUTION: Lumpy or powdery coal is heat treated at 100W400°C in the air. The water treating adsorbent obtd. by the treatment has high physical and chemical adsorption capacity, having also higher adsorption capacity to strongly polar substances than commercially available active carbon. Further, since the adsorbent can be prepd. by only heat treating at low temp. in the air, the prepn. cost is far more inexpensive than active carbon which requires complex stages of process in the prepn.
