PURPOSE: To provide the subject agent exhibiting excellent suppressive action on hepatitis and pancreatitis.

CONSTITUTION: The objective agent containing, as active ingredient, a compound of formula I [R1 is lower aralkyl having substituent; R2 is H, (substituted)lower alkyl or formula II (A is lower alkylene; X is halogen); (n) 0, 1 or 2; Y is CH2CH2 or formula III] or a pharmaceutically permissible salt thereof, e.g. (1S,6S)-1-phenylmethyl-10-(3-pyridylmethyl)-11-oxo-7-thia-10- azaspiro[5,6]dodecane-7,7-dioxide or its hydrochloride. The dose of the active ingredient, which depends on patient's age, body weight, symptoms, or administration method, is normally 1-300 (pref. 5-100)mg at a time orally or parenterally.
