Abstract:
To provide an air chuck for facilitating the connection of an air hose and a threaded stem (70) of a tire valve (12).SOLUTION: An air chuck (10) includes a housing (20) accompanying with an air passage. The housing (20) includes an air inlet port connectable to an air hose and an outlet passage for receiving a threaded stem of a tire valve. A clamping member (36) is mounted externally about the outlet passage and includes a hollow tubular member, a front end portion of which terminates in a plurality of separate, radially deflectable fingers (38). A free end portion of each finger (38) extends toward a discharge end of the outlet passage. The free end portions of respective fingers define an aperture for receiving the threaded stem (70) of the tire valve (12). A size of the aperture is variable by movement of a sleeve (44) slidable over a body of the housing and the clamping member.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2C
