To provide an air conditioner which makes a user control a remaining time required for completing a refrigerant filling operation to an optional time.
The air conditioner includes an indoor unit and an outdoor unit connected by a first refrigerant pipe and a second refrigerant pipe, and a refrigerant circulating passage where a liquid or gas refrigerant is circulated to perform air conditioning, and has a function to fill the outdoor unit with the refrigerant. The outdoor unit is equipped with a compressor to compress a gasified refrigerant and a first heat exchanger connected with a connection port of the compressor. The indoor unit is equipped with an expansion valve of which a connection port is connected with the first refrigerant pipe and a second heat exchanger of which a connection port is connected with the other connection port of the expansion valve and of which the other connection port is connected with the other connection port of the compressor via the second refrigerant pipe. A filling rate of the refrigerant is controlled by bringing the air conditioner into a cooling state, regulating the opening of the expansion valve and adjusting a pressure difference between the suction pressure of the compressor and the pressure of a refrigerant bomb.
