To provide a safer air conditioner by making an electric component box from a noncombustible material.
In this separation type air conditioner constituted by connecting an indoor unit (not shown in the figure) and an outdoor unit (not shown in the figure) by connection piping (not shown in the figure) and connection wiring (not shown in the figure), the electric component box 1 receiving electric components such as a control board 6 is made of the noncombustible material, and the control board 6 is fixed by a mounting plate 24 composed of a flame-retardant resin plate. As a part having probability of generation of combustion and firing due to generation of a certain amount of electric power such as generation of flame due to tracking on a connection part of the connection wiring, heat generation firing due to deterioration of components loaded on the control board 6, and heat generation firing due to intrusion of small animals, is entirely covered by the noncombustible material, spreading of fire due to combustion and firing of the flame-retardant synthetic resin of UL-approved 94V-0 is prevented.
