Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable compact layout of a supercharger an intercooler and an intake manifold, etc., in a inline engine with a supercharger.
CONSTITUTION: In the air intake device of a serially connected engine with its mechanical supercharger constituted in such a way as a mechanical supercharger 2 is arranged so that the axial line direction may be substantially parallel to an engine output shaft on the side of an engine main body 1 and intake air may be supplied to the inside of the engine main body 1 via the mechanical supercharger 2, an intercooler 3 connected to the discharge port 13 of the mechanical supercharger 2 via a main air intake passage 14 is arranged approximately above the mechanical supercharger 2. At the same time, an intake manifold 5 is arranged between the intercooler 3 and the engine main body 1 and above the mechanical supercharger 2.
