Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable a flat plate-like air purifying material to be used as it is or enable the material to be easily processed into a flat plate-like form while securing the area exposed to an atmosphere of an active particulates larger than a conventional area size.
SOLUTION: This air purifying material contains an active particulate 4 such as a catalytic powder which oxidizes a nitrogen oxide or a sulfur oxide of the atmosphere dispersed in a porous orientated polytetrafluoroethylene. The active particulate 4 is held by the constituent matrix of the orientated polytetrafluoroethylene. The active particulate 4 and a polytetrafluoroethylene powder are mixed with a molding assistant into a paste. Then the paste is compressed into flat plate-like paste moldings and the molding assistant is removed from the the moldings and further is orientated to obtain the air purifying material.
