Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an amidoamine oxide-type surface-active compound composed of a specific polyoxyalkylene amidoamine oxide compound, having low protein denaturation activity, giving low stimulation to the human skin and having excellent surface activity. SOLUTION: The objective compound is expressed by formula I (R1 is a 6-22C alkyl or an alkenyl; EO is oxyethylene; PO is oxypropylene; (n) and (m) are each 0-5; (p) is 1-5; and R2 and R3 are each a 1-5C alkyl or an alkenyl), e.g. POE(3) lauryl ether amidopropyl dimethylamine oxide. The compound of formula I can be produced by carrying out the addition polymerization of ethylene oxide, etc. to a higher alcohol of formula R1-OH to obtain a polyoxyalkylene alkyl ether of formula R1-O-(EO)n-(PO)m-H, carboxylating the terminal primary alcohol group of the compound by oxidation to obtain an ether carboxylic acid of formula II and finally carrying out the dehydrative condensation of the primary amino group of the diamine compound of formula III and the oxidation of the condensation product.
