NEW MATERIAL:The aminoalkyl ester derivative of formula I (Me is methyl; RO is cyclopropyl, pentafluorophenyl, L-menthoxymethyl or benzyloxymethyl) and its acid addition salt.
EXAMPLE: 2-(Dimethylamino)ethyl crotonate hydrochloride.
USE: Useful as an agent for preventing the progress of retrogressive diseases of central or peripheral nerve and an agent for improving functions. It is effective at a decreased concentration and has low toxicity.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I can be produced by reacting an aminoalkanol of formula II with a carboxylic acid compound of formula III (X is halogen, hydroxy or acyloxy) in the presence of a condensation agent (e.g. dioyclohexylcarbodiimide or onium salt) in a solvent (e.g. benzene) at -10 to +50°C. The reaction is carried out in the presence of a base in the case of using the acid anhydride of formula III (X is acyloxy).
