To obtain an anti-itch agent containing extract of Jifushi(dried fruit of Chenopodium scoparia L.) or Mokubetsukon (dried root of Momordica cochinchinensis (Lour.) Spreng.) or momordin I or momordin Ic derived therefrom.
The anti-itch agent contains extract of Jifushi (dried fruit of Chenopodium scoparia L.) or Mokubetsukon (dried root of Momordica cochinchinensis (Lour.) Spreng.) extracted with alcohol or acetone, or momordin I or momordin IIc which is a saponin component and derived therefrom and expressed by the formula as an active ingredient. It is preferable that daily dose of the active ingredient of the anti-itch agent is approximately 1-10mg/kg in the case of the extract of the Jifushi or the Mokubetsukon extracted with alcohol, or approximately 0.1-1mg/kg in the case of the momordin I or the momordin Ic which is a saponin component. The anti-itch agent is useful in treating itch, skin itch, eczema, dermatitis, nettle rash, allergic rhinitis, allergic conjunctivitis, immediate asthmatic etc. The anti-itch agent is useful as an anti-itch agent having both of antiallergic action and anti-inflammatory effect, because the above active ingredient has excellent anti-itch action, antiallergic action and anti-inflammatory effect and hardly exhibits adverse effects.
