Abstract:
PURPOSE: To improve anticorrosive effect against metals in an impure composition containing an alcohol freezing point depressant, a carboxylic acid and a triazole compound, by adding an imidazole and limiting the component ratio.
CONSTITUTION: This antifreeze composition contains a water-soluble liquid alcohol freezing point depressant and a corrosion inhibitor comprising a carboxylic acid or a salt thereof and a triazole compound. Furthermore, the composition comprises, based on the amount of liquid alcohol contained, (1) calculated as free acids, 0.1 to 15 wt.% 5-16C aliphatic monobasic acid or its alkali metal, ammonium or amine salt thereof, (2) 0.1 to 0.5 wt.% hydrocarbyl triazole and (3) 0.05 to 5 wt.% imidazole.
