Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a new compound which is a specific 1,3-dithiolan-2-ylidene- imidazolylacetonitrile derivative, having excellent antifungal activities and useful as an active ingredient, etc., of a therapeutic agent for fungal infectious diseases in humans or animals.
SOLUTION: This new (R)-(-)-(E)-[4-(2,4-dichlorophenyl)-1,3-dithiolan-2- ylidene]-1-imidazolylacetonitrile (salt) is represented by formula I (R is H or Cl). The compound has excellent antifungal activities and is useful as an active ingredient, etc., of a therapeutic agent for fungal infectious diseases. The compound is obtained by reacting an optically active glycol derivative represented by formula II (X1 and X2 are each methanesulfonyloxy, bezenesulfonyloxy, p-toluenesulfonyloxy or a halogen) or its equivalent with a dithiolate represented by formula III (M is an alkali metal). Furthermore, the (R)-(+)-(E) isometer similarly has the antifungal activities and its useful as an active ingredient, etc., of an antifungal agent.
