To provide a new polyhydroxybenzene derivative, a skin care preparation for anti-inflammation or a whitening cosmetic using the derivative, which is stabilized against heat or light to show good storage property, has high permeability into a skin, is rapidly hydrolyzed by phosphatase that is widely distributed in a living body, can develop useful physiological activity inherent to hydroxyphenol, has an anti-inflammation effect of a predetermined hydrolyzed antioxidative substance to have high safeness to skin, and has low stimulating property on a skin.
An antioxidative polyhydroxy benzene derivative comprises a polyhydroxy phenyl phosphate or its salt, which is obtained by ester coupling of phosphoric acid to a hydroxyl group of an antioxidative substance comprising astaxanthin, tocopherol or tocotrienol, and by diester coupling of the phosphoric acid ester with one or more hydroxyl groups of polyhydroxybenzene. The antioxidative polyhydroxy benzene derivative has a moderate liposolubility, is easily taken into cells and has characteristics suitable for skin permeability. The antioxidative polyhydroxy benzene derivative taken into cells is hydrolyzed into hydroxyphenol or astaxanthin, tocopherol or tocotrienol by an enzyme or the like such as phosphatase and others distributed to tissues in a living body, and exerts a useful effect on the living body.
