PURPOSE: To prepare an antistatic agent which imparts excellent antistatic properties to a polyacetal resin, and to obtain a polyacetal resin compsn. contg. the agent.
CONSTITUTION: This antistatic agent is obtd. by enclosing a polyalkylene polyol or a polyalkylene polyol contg. an alkali metal salt dissolved therein in a porous substance which has a vol. of micropores in the range of from mesopores to semimacropores, i.e., micropores having radii (measured by mercury porosimetry) of from 200ρ to 1,000ρ, of 0.5cc/g or higher and of 30% or higher of the total micropore vol. and which comprises a basic carbonate of metal mainly comprising an alkali metal and aluminum or comprises an anion-exchange product of the carbonate. The agent is incorporated into a polyacetal resin to give an antistatic polyacetal resin compsn. Since the agent gives the resin a stable antistatic effect hardly affected by environmental conditions and, unlie a known antistatic agent, does not cause degradation in thermal characeristics and mechanical strengths of the resin, the compsn. is widely used in the field of egineering plastics.
