Abstract:
PURPOSE: To accurately detect the thickness of a film of a photosensitive layer.
CONSTITUTION: A photosensitive layer having a plurality of functional layers is set on the surface of a conductive supporting body to constitute a photoreceptor drum 1. The photosensitive layer consists of a first layer of electric charge transportation layer and a second layer of electric charge generation layer. A part of the first layer is peeled to expose the second layer, thereby forming an exposed part. A conductive first detecting member 7b is brought into touch with the first layer, and a voltage is impressed from a power source 9 to the detecting member 7b. The current at the time is detected by a first ammeter. The film thickness between the surface of the supporting body and the surface of the first layer is calculated based on the current, the area of the contact part of the detecting member 7b and the first layer, dielectric constants of the first and second layers, etc. Similarly, the film thickness between the surface of the supporting body and the surface of the second layer is calculated by a second detecting member 7a kept in touch with the exposed part, a second ammeter, etc. The thickness of the first layer is detected from the thickness difference.
