A plate-like body folding apparatus which is provided with a fixed table provided with a top surface, an elevating/lowering table which is arranged in an adjacent relation to the fixed table so that its top surface is flush with the top surface of the fixed table and a holding means contained in the top surface of the elevating/lowering table, the plate-like body to be folded is arranged lying across the top surface of the fixed table and the top surface of the elevating/lowering table and with which the plate-like body is folded by pressing it against the edge part of the top surface of a fixed tale by lowering the elevating/lowering table in the state where at least a part of the bottom face of the plate-like body is held by a holding means is provided. The holding means is an electromagnet, for example, and it is preferable that a slot or a V- or a U-shaped groove is formed on the plate-like body to easily fold the plate-like body.
