Abstract:

To measure the outer diameter of a hair at a high accuracy in a hair outer diameter measuring apparatus which measures the outer diameter at a plurality of points of the hair to investigate its characteristics.

In the apparatus comprising a hair support mechanism for fixing and supporting the ends of a sample hair M, a sample rotating mechanism 20 for rotating the hair M, and a laser sensor 61 for measuring the outer diameter of the hair M, the hair support mechanism is composed of a driving chuck 30A for fixing and supporting one end of the hair M and a driven chuck 30B for fixing and supporting the other end of the hair M so that the both chucks 30A, 30B rotate synchronously.
