To provide a method and a system characterizing a blood vessel tissue by using back scattering data and a known parameter.
A method and a device for identifying information about an imaging element for collecting the back scattering data are provided so that an operation console having a plurality of virtual pathology classification trees can select a proper VH classification tree for analyzing data collected using the imaging element. Information about the functions and performance of a catheter such as the operation frequency of the catheter, the scanning method of the catheter is stored in an imaging catheter, and the information is communicated to the operation console. Moreover, information about an additional function of the catheter is also stored in the catheter to be used for optimizing the catheter performance more, and/or for selecting a virtual pathology classification tree proper for analyzing the data from the catheter imaging element.
