Title:
AQUEOUS ROSIN-BASED RESIN DISPERSION AND ITS PRODUCTION
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3496780
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obtain an aq. rosin-based resin dispersion which is excellent in standing stability and mechanical stability and exhibits good pigment dispersion, gloss, adhesive properties, and water resistance by subjecting a mixture comprising a rosin substance and/or a rosin deriv. (B) and a vinyl monomer (C) to emulsion polymn. in the presence of an alkylene oxide adduct of a rosin deriv. (A).
CONSTITUTION: This mixture comprises 90-1wt.% component B and 10-99wt.% component C. The component A represented by the formula: X-[(Y-O)n-H]m (wherein X is a rosin residue; Y is CH2CH2 or CH2CH(CH3); (n) is 5-100; and (m) is 1-4) is pref. An example of the rosin substance is gum rosin; and an example of the rosin deriv. is a rosin ester. Pref. the number of moles of an alkylene oxide in the adduct is 10-25 based on 1mol of the rosin substance. An example of the component C is an alkyl acrylate. The amt. of the component A used is 20-150wt.% of the sum of components B and C.
