PURPOSE: To provide new aralkylsulfonyl urea effectively used as a herbicide, particularly for selectively controlling the diocotyledonous weeds in monocotyledonous crops.
CONSTITUTION: This compound is represented by formula I [(n) is 2, 3; R1 and R2 are each H, halogen, carboxyl, CN alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio or the like; R3 is alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl, benzyl or the like; R4 is H, F, Cl, Br, alkyl, alkoxy, NH2 or the like; X is N, CH; Y is N, CR7 (CR7 is H, F, Cl, methyl, formyl); Z is H, CR8 (R8 is H, F, Br, alkyl, CF3 or the like)], e.g. 1-(4,6-dimethoxy-S- triazin-2-yl)-3-[2-(2-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-ethylsulfonyl] urea. The compound is prepared by reacting arylalkane sulfonamide of formula II with aminoazine of formula III, optionally in the presence of a react assistant and a diluent.
