To provide an article sorting device for eliminating the need for an expensive CPU, reducing burdens on workers and the consumption of batteries, and actualizing quick operation in an unlimited communicable range.
The article sorting device includes carts 110 on which articles to be sorted are mounted, a distribution shelf 140 partitioned into a plurality of sections, and a managing PC 180 for managing sorting operation from the carts into the distribution shelf. To solve the above issue, the carts each have a transmitter for transmitting a cart identification signal including ID which specifies itself, the distribution shelf has a receiver in each section for receiving the cart identification signal transmitted from the cart, and the managing PC has a cart position discriminating means for discriminating which cart is located near which section of the distribution shelf, from the reception contents of each receiver.
