Abstract:
To provide a high quality artificial aggregate at a low cost, which contains coal ash as a main component and has a high strength and a low water absorption ratio.
This artificial aggregate is obtained by mixing coal ash with bentonite, calcium hydroxide and iron oxide, then adding water to the resulting mixture, kneading, pelletizing to obtain core pellets, coating the surface of each pellet with an outer shell having a fusing temperature higher than that of the core pellet comprising the coal ash and the bentonite, and firing the core pellets at a temperature close to the fusing temperature of the core pellets.
