Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a basic fabric for an artificial leather excellent in soft touch feeling, abrasion resistance, stretchability and color developing properties by interlacing and integrating a woven or a knitted fabric made of trimethylene terephthalate fibers.
SOLUTION: This base fabric for an artificial leather is formed by inserting a woven or a knitted fabric comprising trimethylene terephthalate having 0.4-2 intrinsic viscosity, ≥2.5 g/d strength, 20-100% elongation and 25-30 g/d modulus of elasticity between two webs of ultrafine staple fibers having ≤0.5 d single fiber fineness and interlacing or integrating the woven or knitted fabric with the webs by needle punching or with a high-pressure water stream. The base fabric is impregnated with 3-20 wt.% of a polymeric elastic body such as a polyurethane and then carrying out the raising treatment of the surface to afford a sueded artificial leather.
