Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an asynchronous transfer mode computer network system whereby communication from multiple applications is multiplexed to a single virtual channel providing a band width which is lower than the total sum of the respectively assigned band widths.
SOLUTION: An asynchronous transfer mode network connects a first computer to a second one and supports communication between the application programs of the first and the second computers. In the respective pairs of the application programs of the first and the second computers, application channels AC1-ACN having a period, a message size and a deadline are assigned, single- virtual channels VC1-VCN are assigned by way of a user level multiplexing in the plural application channels and the virtual channels are provided with the band width which is decided as the total sum function of the largeness of the messages of the application channels with the larger deadline of the application channels.
