PURPOSE: To enable automatic execution of longitudinal and transverse surveys of a specified area such as the lay of reclaimed ground by providing automatic tracking device operating so that they face exactly a fixed station and a mobile station at all times, and others.
CONSTITUTION: An automatic tracking device 3 of a fixed station 1 and an automatic tracking device 4 of a mobile station 2 conduct tracking operations so that they face exactly each other. On the basis of a distance between the two stations measured by a light-wave range finder 7, the angle of deflection from a horizontal angle measuring unit 10 and the angle of inclination from a vertical angle measuring unit 11, therefore, a control device 9 computes the coordinates of the position of the mobile station from the fixed station 1 as a cardinal point. These measured data are corrected by the data on the current position transmitted from a self-position measuring means 16 and made to be survey data having little error. The mobile station 2 controlled by an operation control circuit 15 runs automatically on the basis of the data on a set moving route. On the occasion, the data on the current position measured by the means 16 and the data on the moving route are compared with each other by a main control device 14, a deviation between them is added to the control circuit 15 and thereby the course of the mobile station 2 is modified onto the moving route. Accordingly, longitudinal and transverse surveys of a specified area can be executed automatically.
