Abstract:

PURPOSE: To automate the center rest of a work in a cylindrical grinder and perform this center rest easily even to the work different in the diameter.

CONSTITUTION: A stock removal detecting unit 1 is set up in the vicinity of the end side of a work W of a cylindrical grinder. Three center-rest devices 2L, 2C and 2R are set up along the work. In each center-rest devices 2L, 2C and 2R, a wooden receiver block bumping against a lower surface of the work W and another receiver block bumping against a side face of the work likewise are set up there. In addition, a limit switch 2 is installed in the sidepiece of a work holder 30. When this work holder 30 is reciprocated by control of a control part 200, a relative position between a grinding wheel 80a and the work W is detected by this limit switch 3. Successively, stock removal of the work is detected by the stock removal detecting unit 1. On the basis of this relative position and this stock removal, the receiver block in the ground part of the work is shifted as followed after a surface of the work, whereby any deflection of the work is prevented from occurring.
