Abstract:
PURPOSE: To provide an automatic equalizer capable of converging equalization characteristics to optimum characteristics at all times even when the waveform distortion of input signals becomes large.
CONSTITUTION: This automatic equalizer is provided with a variable equalizer 4 for waveform-equalizing the input signals by the equalization characteristics decided corresponding to a prescribed parameter, an equalization error detection circuit 8 for detecting the equalization error of the output signals of the variable equalizer 4, a parameter correction circuit 9 for correcting the parameter to be supplied to the variable equalizer 4 so as to minimize the detected equalization error, a parameter holding memory 10 for holding the value of the corrected parameter, an initial parameter memory 11 for storing an initial parameter to be supplied to the variable equalizer 4 at the time of initial setting and a selector 12 and a reset timing generation circuit 13 for supplying the initial parameter to the variable equalizer 4 in the non-signal period of the input signals and resetting it.
