Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To keep a vehicle-to-vehicle distance stably by controlling an own vehicle so as to be accelerated and decelerated by positively-using a deviation between a distance to a leading vehicle and a target vehicle-to-vehicle distance as well as the accelerating/decelerating regulating information on the leading vehicle obtained through vehicle-to-vehicle communication.
SOLUTION: An automatic followup traveling control function is provided with a vehicle-to-vehicle communication machine 41a which receives accelerating/decelerating regulating information consisting of absolute position information and accelerator and brake information emitted from a leading vehicle 11. The information on the leading vehicle 11 received through the vehicle-to-vehicle communication machine 41a and the absolute position information on an own vehicle detected by a GPS receiver 45 are taken in a control ECU 32 from a communication ECU 40, and vehicle-to- vehicle distance information and the vehicle speed information on the own vehicle are taken. The control ECU 32 produces access controlled variables and brake controlled variables in conducting accelerating and decelerating control which follows up the behavior (speed change) of the leading vehicle 11. Respective controlled variables are outputted through an A/D converter, and the operations of respective actuators are controlled respectively.
